THE STORY
was originally started in 1987 as MCCARP CAKES by Jim Carpenter and Shannon McDonough, hence the name MCCARP ~ "MC" from McDonough and "CARP" from Carpenter. At that time, they took over making desserts for the fine-dining restaurant where they worked.

One typical afternoon, Jim, while carrying chocolate, eggs, whipping cream, butter, chocolate cookie crumbs and pans, announced, "HONEY, WE'RE GOING TO MAKE MOUSSE CAKE!" Shannon thought, GREAT! EXTRA MONEY FOR OUR WEDDING!

That first item was CHOCOLATE MOUSSE CAKE. At the request of a Regional Manager for the National Restaurant Chain for whom they worked, they soon added NEW YORK-STYLE CHEESECAKE and eventually KEY LIME PIE to their product list. They also produced SEASONAL PIES for the holidays and SPECIALTY BITE-SIZE DELICACIES for BUFFETS and SPECIAL OCCASIONS.
After becoming married in 1988, Jim and Shannon's venture supplied restaurants and markets over the Southern California area, from San Diego to Santa Barbara to Catalina Island. In 1993, they moved into their Costa Mesa location. Close to customers, suppliers, family and friends, they created the perfect bakery. Their facilities were built up from scratch - taking an empty space and adding specific equipment thereby customizing their operation to fill their customers' needs from caterers and fundraisers to specialty markets and fine dining restaurants.

In 2002, they moved into their present location in Garden Grove, CA. This facility is over 4 times larger than their prior space. It has a climate-controlled baking area and has been built to accommodate their customers' specific needs. Combine a fantastic crew with delicious recipes in a top-notch facility and the result is: SUPERIOR TASTE AND TEXTURE IN EVERY PRODUCT!
In 1998, MCCARP CAKES, a sole proprietorship, became INC., a California C-Corporation. The company is currently a wholesale supplier to several restaurants and markets on local, regional and national levels.

They specialize in AUTHENTIC KEY LIME PIE. Using their expertise to choose the best, most affordable ingredients available on the market, their products are consistent in quality, competitive in price and absolutely appealing.

Other services available through include custome made desserts, filling special requests for particular dietary needs, creation of new desserts not currently available on the market, and consulting services for restaurants, caterers, entrepreneurs, and bakers.
